Ipswich man charged with murder following fatal stabbing

Logan Burnett, 27, of All Saints Road, Ipswich, has been charged with murder following the death of a 26-year-old woman on Burrell Road on Tuesday evening.

Suffolk Police have charged a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing that occurred in Ipswich earlier this week.

The big picture: The charge comes after a rapid investigation following the incident on Tuesday 6 August, where a young woman lost her life despite the efforts of emergency services.

Key details:

  • Logan Burnett, 27, of All Saints Road, Ipswich, has been charged with murder

  • Burnett is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Friday 9 August

  • The victim, a 26-year-old woman, died in hospital from stab wounds to the chest

  • Emergency services were called to Burrell Road shortly after 19:10 BST on Tuesday

  • Critical care paramedics from Suffolk Accident Rescue Service were among those who attempted to save the victim's life

Post-mortem findings: A Home Office post-mortem examination conducted on Thursday afternoon concluded that the cause of death was fatal injuries from stab wounds inflicted on the victim's chest.

Scene update: The police cordon has now been lifted, and Burrell Road is no longer closed.

What's next: Burnett will appear in court on Friday, where formal legal proceedings will begin.

Ongoing appeal: Despite the charge, police are still urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the incident.

How to help: Anyone with information can contact Suffolk Police, quoting crime reference 37/44382/24:

The bottom line: While a suspect has been charged, the investigation continues. Police are seeking additional information to assist their enquiries into this tragic event.
