Man in his 20s arrested over Pinewood stabbing

Detectives investigating a violent burglary in Pinewood have arrested a man after a woman was stabbed when she confronted an intruder in her home on Saturday.

The big picture: Officers arrested a man in his 20s on Sunday, 8 December, on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre, where he is due to be questioned by detectives.

What happened: The incident occurred on Saturday, 7 December, when:

  • Officers were called to Admiral Road at 16:55

  • A woman discovered an intruder in her home after investigating a noise

  • The victim was stabbed after confronting the intruder

  • The suspect fled towards Ellenbrook Park

The aftermath:

  • The victim, in her 40s, was taken to hospital

  • She was treated and discharged later that night

  • Police recovered a knife near the scene

What's next: Police are continuing to investigate a reported attempted robbery in Ellenbrook Park that occurred shortly before the burglary.

  • They are appealing for witnesses and CCTV footage

  • Asking anyone with information to contact them quoting reference 37/69357/24

The bottom line: While an arrest has been made, police are still seeking witnesses and information about both the burglary and the attempted robbery in Ellenbrook Park.
