New £200,000 funding scheme targets social mobility improvement

The Persimmon Charitable Foundation has launched a new funding programme to help organisations tackle inequality and improve social mobility across the region.

Why it matters: The initiative offers four separate £50,000 donations to charities and community groups focused on social mobility, potentially benefiting numerous local organisations working to address disadvantage.

The details: Applications are now open for the first two £50,000 donations, which will be awarded in May, with a second funding round opening in June for two additional £50,000 donations to be awarded in September.

The deadline for first-round applications is 11.59pm on Sunday, April 13th.

What they're saying: "This new open application programme will create new opportunities for us to support organisations that tackle inequality and aid social mobility, helping us to change more lives," said Anthony Vigor, Chair of the Foundation.

By the numbers: The Persimmon Charitable Foundation has donated over £1 million to good causes since 2022.

For context: The Foundation was established in 2015 to support communities where Persimmon Homes operates, with a focus on projects addressing deprivation or disadvantage, especially among young people.

The bottom line: Charities can apply via the Foundation section of the Persimmon Corporate website, with particular emphasis on organisations involved in youth development, learning and training.
