Police join Ipswich schoolchildren for online safety hackathon

Police officers, community group leaders, volunteers, and Suffolk County Council chair Liz Harsant joined pupils from two Ipswich primary schools today for a workshop on internet safety and digital wellbeing.

The big picture: Year 6 pupils from Cliff Lane Primary School and Ranelagh Road Primary School participated in the event designed to educate local schoolchildren about online safety.

  • The workshop was organised by Future Female Society and Volunteering Matters

  • PC Bloom and PCSO Pennock attended alongside Suffolk County Council Chairperson, Liz Harsant

Activities included:

  • Creating safety posters

  • Designing laws for a new society

  • Playing interactive safety and wellbeing games

Bottom line: The initiative shows how local organisations are working together to help young people stay safe online through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
