Looking for something to do this evening? One of the UK's first live techno outfits, with over 120,000 followers on Facebook, is headlining at The Baths tonight—giant light-up brain 'n' all.

The influential duo, formed in 1989 by Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton, will take to the stage at The Baths on Friday, 28 March, with doors opening at 19:30.

Starting out as a creative outlet for the diverse range of electronic music the pair were writing, Eat Static have reached the significant milestone of three decades performing. They can legitimately claim to be one of the UK's first live techno outfits, having helped reshape perceptions of electronic music performance.

In an era when "live" performances by many electronic acts were often mimed by PAs, Eat Static quickly developed a loyal following by delivering genuinely live shows. Their spectacular performances, featuring huge light displays and a giant illuminated brain, showed audiences that dance music could be performed live rather than simply played back.

This innovative approach to electronic music has taken them around the world, with the band playing hundreds of gigs and headlining festivals across the globe since their formation.

For their Ipswich performance, Eat Static will be supported by Syco and The Psylings, with the event scheduled to run until 23:00 at The Baths this Friday.

The upcoming show represents a rare opportunity for Suffolk music fans to experience a pioneering electronic act that has helped shape the UK's live techno scene throughout the past three decades.
