  • Live performances from Suffolk Sound

  • A special appearance by Davis alongside ITFC chairman Mark Ashton

Why it matters: The annual celebration brings the community together to mark the start of the festive season in Ipswich town centre. It is an important event for town centre retailers.

What they're saying: "The Christmas lights switch-on is always a magical time for Ipswich, and we're thrilled to welcome the community back for this year's celebration," says Councillor Jane Riley, Ipswich Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Culture and Customers.

"It's a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate our town, and light up the festive season with joy and excitement for all ages."

Worth noting: A special Blue Badge drive-through event will take place on Sunday 1 December from 18:00 to 21:00, with ticket details to be announced.

The bottom line: The free event marks the start of late-night shopping in Ipswich, with town centre shops and restaurants staying open throughout the evening. Families are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy all the entertainment and secure a good viewing spot for the switch-on.
