A free augmented reality (AR) adventure is taking over the Ipswich town centre this summer, allowing families to explore local history and attractions through their smartphones.

Why it matters: The interactive trail combines education and entertainment, encouraging residents and visitors to explore Ipswich while learning about its past and future.

The details:

  • The trail runs daily until 4 September, spanning from Christchurch Park to the Waterfront

  • Users download an app to access seven interactive stops featuring Ipswich-themed characters

  • Each stop offers unique themes, games, and storytelling elements

  • Participants who complete the trail receive free children's book or audiobook prizes
