Six people fled a house fire in Ipswich early Tuesday morning in what police believe was a targeted arson attack. Two residents were hospitalised after jumping from an upstairs window to escape the blaze.

The big picture: Police are treating the fire as suspicious and have arrested a 24-year-old man from Felixstowe in connection with the incident. Eleven residents from neighbouring properties were evacuated.

  • The fire broke out at a property on Portman Road just before 5:20am on Tuesday, August 13

  • Six people were in the house at the time - four escaped uninjured

  • A man and woman were taken to hospital with leg fractures and smoke inhalation after jumping from an upstairs window

  • Police believe it was a "localised and targeted attack"

  • Ipswich Borough Council is accommodating evacuated neighbours in a refuge centre

Suffolk Police are seeking public assistance to locate 38-year-old Ipswich man Dale Davidson who disappeared this morning.

Dale was wearing navy blue jogging bottoms with white stripe and a blue coat with a fur hood when he went missing. He was last seen leaving his home address in Ipswich at around 7am.

Anyone who has seen Dale or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101.
