Police have launched an investigation after a man in his 60s was found dead at a property on Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich. Officers are treating the death as suspicious.

The big picture: The death is currently being treated as suspicious, though investigators say enquiries are at an early stage.

Two police cars and a forensics van remain at the scene while detectives appeal for witnesses who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area over the Christmas period.

What happened:

  • Officers were called to an address near the junction with Marigold Avenue shortly before 18:00 on Wednesday, 01 January

  • The man's family has been notified

  • Forensic investigators remain at the scene as police carry out their investigation

  • A post-mortem examination will be carried out shortly

Appeal for information: Police want to hear from anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area between Tuesday 24 December and Wednesday 1 January.

Suffolk Police are seeking public assistance to locate 38-year-old Ipswich man Dale Davidson who disappeared this morning.

Dale was wearing navy blue jogging bottoms with white stripe and a blue coat with a fur hood when he went missing. He was last seen leaving his home address in Ipswich at around 7am.

Anyone who has seen Dale or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101.
