The Salutation pub on Carr Street has applied to place 10 seats outside its premises, with a decision expected after February 19.
The historic venue, which dates back to at least the 1700s, has sought permission from Ipswich Borough Council's licensing committee for five tables and 10 seats on the pavement.

If approved, customers would be able to use the outdoor seating from 11:00-00:00 every day of the week.
Local residents have until Wednesday, 19 February to submit their representations to the plans.
The Salutation, which reopened under new ownership in 2021 with a carvery offering, has a rich history in the town centre. According to the Campaign for Real Ale, it served as the preferred watering hole for off-duty airmen from RAF Martlesham during the 1920s and 1930s.
